I Can’t Breathe

                                    By Omar Kɔbla Gbɛsa D’Poet

Verily I say unto thee, “these are the fruits of our own deeds”
Don’t call us“ black beauty”
We being black is distant more than the word “beauty”
You guys caused all these.
Can’t we accept ourselves the way we are?
Must we necessarily bleach our skin in order to be beautiful?
With artifice, they almost emptied our continent’s resources.
After using our utensils to prepare meals for yourselves, you’re now suffocating us with stench because you refused to wash these utensils.
Now we can’t breathe.

Why black?
Is God white?
Hmm! What a world.
After freely building on our own land without paying anything, you’re now denying us a common footpath.
After bringing us the Bible, you’re now doing the opposite of what we read in the Bible.
They’ve almost finished eliminating all those holding black firmly.
Now helplessly, we’re shaking.
Fearfully, they’re killing us physically and mentally.
What was his crime?
We kneel to pray to God but they’re kneeling on our necks.
We can’t breathe.
A sacred position but you’ve turned it into a deadly posture.

Verily I say unto thee, “these are the fruits of our own deeds”
Even some schools in my country, charge fees in currencies of the white.
Even buildings on our own lands are priced in currencies of the white.
Not blaspheming but I wish we had the opportunity to cross examine God and put to the almighty these questions.
Is there any difference between black mortals and white mortals?
Why is wickedness overflowing from the hearts of some white mortals?
After kneeling on necks to kill, should we still kneel to pray?
As they have stained the kneeling prayer position how can we purify it again?

We can’t breathe but with this “last breath-like” breath of ours, let us allow Omar D'Poet to run this race for the blacks. Before then, let's perform the following experiments.
Cut them and see if wine would ooze out or not.
Cut us too and see if poison would ooze out or not.
The world must wake up and stop racism for nobody knows God’s color.
